Sketts Quality Events has been shortlisted in the Touch FM Pride of Warwick District Awards in Small Business of the Year category.
The prestigious awards take place on Saturday, July 4, and Sketts partner, Paul Skett, was delighted to hear today’s news.
He said: “As a family we have been in Warwick District for more than 55 years, and to receive this shortlisting in the year where Warwick celebrates 1,100 years is all the more special.
“We have lived and breathed markets in Warwick since 1958, and we’re now in our third generation of the Skett family managing the Warwick market.
“I firmly believe we are a part of the community, but as with many essential elements in our community, when they are run very well, they are invisible.
“Our markets in town centres are there every weekend, often defying the conditions, ensuring our traders, and the public who look forward to seeing them, are almost never denied seeing them – even in the bleakest of snowy winters.
“Many of our traders have been with us for not just a few years, but for generations, a testament to the loyalty we show to our traders and that they show to us.
“Having said that, there is a changing face to the world of markets, and we are moving with the times, embracing the growing trend for fine food markets. This has introduced many new traders to our markets, much to the delight of local people.
“And with changing times also comes new ways of talking to people, and we have embraced social media as a way to engage with our customers and traders. We now have more than 1,500 followers on Twitter and more than 500 people have liked our Facebook page!”
This has meant the family business has developed experience and expertise that is second to none in providing what a town and district needs from a market.
And the work in the town doesn’t just involve the weekly Saturday market.

We recognise this and work to make our markets gel with the community needs and those of the traders in the towns.
“We are fully involved in this year’s planned National Market Days, aiming to make everyone more aware of local markets – local communities, visitors and tourists, old hands and budding entrepreneurs alike.
