ENGLAND v FRANCE IN BRIDGE STREET - FOR THE FOOD FESTIVAL
The celebrations of the Stratford upon Avon Food Festival continued into Bridge Street last Saturday and Sunday where the Local British Farmers Market and the French Normandy
Market went head to head.
People's smiles said it all as the sun shone and the road closure offered a safe and spacious
environment for all. The carnival atmosphere was helped along by the scarecrow stilt walkers as the children watched in awe at their juggling skills, and then were free to jump all over the vintage tractor and hay.
Paul Skett of Sketts who organised the Bridge Street Event said "we are delighted to have brought huge footfall to the town which is just what we wanted to achieve. The atmosphere is electric and we are already excited aboutnext year's event which will be even better".
England v France, working in harmony
The festival was welcomed back after it was cancelled last year due to the Bancroft Gardens redevelopment. Local businesses and cafes were also able to take advantage of the weekend and some were happy to offer samples of their food throughout the day at the event. Taste 09 which will be Taste 10 next year organised by the BID company has many exciting ideas to build on and hope to offer a "scene of cuisine" throughout the town next year that will have a worldwide flavour of food.
